Vieques on Twenty Dollars a Day.
Where are the best hole in the walls to eat...any suggestions?
Vieques Island has many inexpensive options for dining on a budget. Here is an example of how to do Vieques Island on a budget with tips only an insider would know.
For breakfast go where the locals go. Weekday mornings there is always a line, but you can't beat Panadería Lydia (located in Isabell near the ocean on Calle Benitez Guzman) for breakfast on a buget. Grab a ham and cheese (jamon y queso) or a turkey ham and cheese (jamon de pavo y queso) for $2.68.
A local secret no more, islanders and visitors alike love Sol Food for lunch. Stop by on your way to or from the beach, located at the entrance to garcia beaches as you turn off of 997. A ½ pound salad is just $3, add a grilled pita and a soda and it still is only $5 bucks.
Sunday night is taco night at Al's Mar Azul in Isabell. Watch the sunset and have a medalla (the local beer) at happy hour ($1.75, 5pm to 7:30 daily) and then for dinner have two tacos ( $3.25 each) or have five for $13.00 and split them with a friend. Don't forget to leave a great tip!
